Apple Watch Series 9 Review: What’s New?
After the Apple Watch Series 8, comes the Apple Watch Series 9 which looks identical to the previous model… and the one before it.

In terms of watches, design is quite important. All it takes to persuade someone to buy an expensive watch is an enticing design. But over the previous several years, sales of Apple smartwatches have not been great. According to industry surveys, Apple’s share of the smartwatch market has decreased over the last two years, and there is a very clear explanation why. For the last three years, Apple has not altered the look of its watch. The Watch Series 9 for this year maintains the same visual aesthetic as the Series 7 from the previous year.
This is not to argue that Apple’s technique of making minor adjustments and offering a model that looks comparable isn’t effective. Every year, more people purchase Apple Watches than ever before, regardless of design updates or significant feature additions.
Therefore, it may seem a little silly to have an Apple wrist Series 9 that looks just like the model from the previous year. However, similar to the Crash Detection feature from the previous year, there is a new feature in the shape of a double tap gesture that allows you to execute many operations without having to reach out and touch your wrist. Sounds thrilling? There’s a catch as usual. But first, let’s see what’s new before moving on to that.
Apple Watch Series 9 price in India
Similar to the Series 8 and Series 7, the Apple Watch Series 9 comes in two case sizes (41mm and 45mm) and two versions: GPS and Cellular. Another option Apple offers its customers is the casing, which comes in two unique finishes—steel and aluminum. The starting price of the 41mm aluminum casing is Rs. 41,900, whilst the 45mm case is Rs. 44,900.
The price of the 45mm case is Rs. 75,900, while the 41mm stainless steel variant is Rs. 70,900. You may select only one strap choice from Apple to match your new watch. That would be the new Sport Band or Sport Loop for the aluminum case versions, and for the stainless steel variants, they have an option of the Sport Band or Milanese Loop (metal).
The characteristics and design of the Apple Watch Series 9
There isn’t much of a visual difference between the Series 7, Series 8, and Series 9 this year unless you are upgrading from a Series 6 or previous Apple Watch. In essence, the Series 9’s design remains unchanged regardless of how you view it, with the bezels surrounding the display remaining unchanged.
The delicate etching on the ceramic rear case of two Midnight Black Apple Watches can only be used to distinguish one from the other. In this scenario, the number “8” will be changed with the number “9.” With the Galaxy Watch 6 and Watch 6 Classic this year, Samsung did a much better job, incorporating little improvements that improved the smartwatches’ appearance.
But according to Apple, all of the materials used to make its smartwatch this year were recycled. However, this is limited to the Series 9 with the aluminum casing (it does not apply to the stainless steel shell) and is only valid when the Sport Loop strap is used with it. This makes the device, as described by Apple, 100% carbon neutral.
Apple gave two watch bands to the review unit. Apple also sent along a Desert Stone Nike Sport Band in addition to the package containing the Midnight Sport Loop. Although it was a little too small for my wrist, it felt high-quality and was well-made. Because it features a velcro adjustment strap, the carbon-neutral Sport Loop band was also quite pleasant for daily wear and easy to tighten.
Throughout the review time, there were no scratches on either the aluminum casing or the ion-X reinforced cover glass. According to Apple, the casing is still IP6X certified for dust protection and water resistance down to 50 meters. A magnetic fast-charging adaptor is included in the package
Apple Watch Series 9 performance
Both when starting and stopping programs as well as while leisurely perusing the watchOS interface, the new Apple S9 SiP seems a little bit quicker. I won’t upgrade just on that though, as it isn’t significantly quicker than the Series 8, which was already rather nippy. Similarly, Apple boasts that the brighter display may reach 2,000 nits, which is comparable to the Watch Ultra 2 from the previous year. Regarding outdoor brightness, the Series 8 from last year performed admirably, so I wouldn’t think of it as an upgrade when purchasing or switching from a more current model.
With regard to watchOS, the most recent version has seen several significant modifications. There are four new watch faces with lots of entertaining animations, one of which is a really adorable and humorous Snoopy watch face. For those who use the Nike Run app, the new Nike Globe watch face is pretty helpful. The Solar Analogue and Palette faces are also highly customizable.
